INSPIRATION PLUS and the SOUTHAMPTON ARTS CENTER are thrilled to sponsor the SOLAR IMPRESSIONS JURIED EXHIBITION with the solarplate printmaking process. This exhibition will bring artists from all over the world to celebrate solarplate printmaking starting at the stunning Southampton Arts Center in Southampton, NY and then traveling in the months to come.

ELIGIBILITY
The exhibition is open to all original print work with the emphasis based on the solar plate polymer plate process. There is no size limitation, however shipping regulations may pre determine restrictions. Not eligible would be reproductions of pre existing drawings and paintings and other works of art. PRESENTATION
There is no size restriction on images. Each image selected for the Exhibition must be delivered to Inspiration Plus and framed with Plexiglas and wired for hanging. Artists with accepted work will be notified of shipment details and deadlines following selection. Works arriving from foreign countries need not comply with framing. Accepted foreign works will be dealt with accordingly.

SUBMISSION
Each artist may submit up to three images for $40.00. Submissions will be accepted through CaFE (www.callforentry.org). More information including a link is contained at www.inspirationplus.org. All selected work will be available for sale at prices set by the artist and the artist will receive 50% of the selling price, less taxes.

ART WORK DESCRIPTION

Each selected work shall be delivered with (1) name of the work, (2) date of work, and (3) a full description of the materials used including the type and brand of inks, polymer plates, printing paper, transparencies and other important ingredients used in the final work. Principal goals of the Exhibition are to share fine art with the public and to educate the public about the SCIENTIFIC AND ARTISTIC print medium and its materials and processes.

The event will be hosted at the exquisite Southampton Arts Center, in the heart of the Hamptons. This venue can accommodate over one hundred works.

The exhibition will show the breadth of using the artistic and scientific process of solar plate and open the door to the educational theme of Science through Art. With international participants the exhibition will be a milestone for ‘Health and Safety’ in the art world. The show may travel in 2020. Venues to be announced.

HONORING THE LIFE AND WORK OF ARTIST AND SCIENTIST NICK SEMENOFF

Nik Semenoff has always been a creator, simultaneously through art and science. His years working industrially expanded his repertoire to the ‘alternative’ art making world through his own innovative developments. ‘Waterless lithography,’ various ’safer etching’ formulas and several printmaking tools are among the many ’tricks of the trade’ he pioneered. As a 90 year old Canadian and Professor of Art at the University of Saskatchewan, he continues to inspire people throughout the world through his many journals and teachings.

ERIC FISCHL -
AWARDS JUROR

Eric Fischl,according to Dan Welden, is the most important and first internationally acclaimed American painter, sculptor and writer whose early, (1992) solar plate impressions were featured in the Smithsonian’s “American Art” and the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.

His artwork is represented in many distinguished worldwide museums and has been featured in over one thousand publications. His extraordinary achievements throughout his career have made him one of the most influential figurative painters of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

EXHBITION JURORS

Laura G. Einstein

Manager of The Mezzanine Gallery at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Former Executive Director of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Einstein served as Interim Head and Assistant Curator of the Asian Art Department at Yale University Art Gallery.

Alex Ferrone

Director, Alex Ferrone Gallery, Cutchogue, NY; independent Curator and Juror; exhibiting fine art photographic Artist; and commercial Aerial Photographer. Internationally published and collected.

Ron Pokrasso

Exhibiting artist, printmaker and educator over 40 years and originator of the printmaking event “Monothon.” Conducts workshops throughout the U.S., Scotland, Ireland, Italy and Mexico and directs the Galisteo Street Studio, a Fine Art Printmaking facility in Santa Fe, NM.
